Former Notre Dame Coach Has It Right

I don't normally get "political" on this blog, but I thought this was good enough to pass on. While watching Fox tonight, former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz said, "There's a reason they don't allow the 10 Commandments in the White House or Congress - it says you can't lie or steal."

OK, Just this once

My family went to the Bonny Eagle show on Sunday. As you may know, we don't get to very many these days, for a variety of reasons. But we made time for Bonny. And we got to visit with a good many friends we rarely see these days - which is precisely why we went.

While there, I was asked by several people to offer my comments on the show, based on my personal thoughts and observations as well as those provided to me by other attendees. Se, here goes ---

Let's start with the weather, since the BE show is often held in the rain. Not this year - the weather was just gorgeous. Picture perfect! And the vehicles - magnificent, of course. I heard there were over 600 this year, and I believe it.

And they really seemed to have a handle on getting people off the road and into the schoolyard with efficiency.

But the first thing we noticed - and the same was mentioned to us by at least 40 people (and probably thought by another 500) -- there did not seem to be a visible class structure. Mustangs were EVERYWHERE. And we saw many rows where the only thing the vehicles in the row had in common were 4 wheels. I certainly would not want to have to vote. It's impossible to do a proper job of voting when vehicles are scattered in such a random array.

Bonny Eagle has been doing this for many years - decades. I think it's about time they put a little effort into class structure that makes it easy to know what's what.

But it was still a great day with great people, and I would venture to say most folks had a great time.

Wile E Coyote

As some of you know, I raise meat rabbits as a hobby. A lot of "preppers" buy them, and folks who want to feed their dogs (or themselves) a very lean and inexpensive meat. There are usually 50-100 bunnies in the Bunny Barn at any given time. And it seems like they have drawn the interest of another resident of my homestead (a few covert pictures here).

Needless to say, I'm breakin' out my night vision scope and camo and will be hunting the hunter. I have no intention of losing any part of my herd to a critter that couldn't even catch a roadrunner for 50 years using ACME rockets and TNT. Unless, of course, he can cough up $5 apiece (EURO's not accepted)

If You Do Business With Irving Oil...

This is just an FYI --- Irving Oil is ripping off their customers, so I will no longer do business with them for fuel oil, propane or their filling stations.

Thursday they filled my propane tank. I flipped when I saw the bill - a whopping $5.599 a gallon! For PROPANE!!!

I called Dodge Oil and asked what they are getting per gallon. They said $3.17.

Irving is charging nearly DOUBLE what other companies are getting. When I called to complain, they basically said, "Too bad." So I basically said, "Too bad for YOU - I'm dumping you crooked morons."

The real story as told by Irving Oil --- they practice redistribution of wealth. They steal extra money from people who do not use as much propane, then use that extra money to give a discount to those who use a lot. That is the same as taking money from one person because he earns a lot and giving it to someone who earns less. That's socialism - redistribution of wealth. They call it "tier pricing", but by any name it is robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Note to Irving Oil - I have NO interest in paying for some other guys' propane just because he is a gas hog and uses so much more. I do the right thing and conserve, and you double-charge me so he can waste gas.

If you do business with Irving, I strongly suggest you call ahead and get their pricing BEFORE you refill. As for me, you will never see me at another Irving station. Even if their gasoline prices are competitive, any business that rips off their customers on propane or oil will not get ANY of my business.

As a side note - propane has nothing to do with oil, so it should not be skyrocketing just because oil is.  That's like the price of apples going up just because the price of Nike's went up. When propane prices follow gasoline prices, you know the propane companies are ripping you off.

For Bill G (and others interested) - and TOYS FOR TOTS

Hey there, Bill! We were talking the other night at CHOP. Thought you might like to see what I was talking about - check out my "other" blog at http://success-by-design.blogspot.com/. You may not agree with everything you find there, but at least it will be entertaining. And blunt. (Oh, BTW - remember last year when I suggested you to buy gold, at about $1000 ounce? It's now flirting with $1800...)

For everyone - Cheryl & Stan Page are desperately trying to put together this year's TOYS FOR TOTS event. But they are having a difficult time - it seems they are not getting any help from any of the folks, or the clubs. They really do need your help. We cannot let this event become history. Please contact them ASAP at cherylpage65@gmail.com if you can offer anything in the way of help. It would be greatly appreciated by all.

Thanx

CMP Is Now Resorting To Extortion

A lot of Maine folks (being smarter than most) have rejected the "Smart Meters" proposed by Obama and as put forth by CMP.

So, CMP has taken a page from ObamaCare - penalize those who do not want to be subjugated or forced into submission.

We now are blessed with a "choice" - we can go with the Smart Meter, or a Smart Meter Lite, or we can go with the old standby "electro-mechanical" meter we already have. With one major change - if you want to go with the "electro-mechanical" meter, you will be charged $40 for installation (even thouh it's already installed) and an extra $12/month, every month for something you already have, and are already paying for - the cost of your meter and the meter reader is already built into your bill. So, this is actually double-billing.

Does anyone here recall the old "protection rackets?" You know, the old, "We won't hurt you as long as you pay us for protection." Well, that is what this (and ObamaCare) is - a government authorized extortion racket, brought to us courtesy of the Chicago mob-style of politics.

And they get away with it because they are a monopoly - where else will you get electricity?

Extortion - there is no other name for it.
