Letter From Ken

I received the following email from Ken Matthews concerning what has always been the Windham Walmart Car Show:

"Well as you have already reported on Hotkarz.com Wal-Mart's corporate office has sent a ruling to ALL WalMart locations that their respective parking lots are off limits to outside organizations that use the areas for car shows and many other fund raising projects. I have been working closely with the Windham, Maine store trying to get an exception to the policy and that decision has not been favorable. Maybe you could allow me to address your many readers to let them know what is happening.

"After several months of trying to secure another location that can offer the same exposure to the public and provide enough room for 200 to 300 show cars plus spectator parking, I have not been able to find a place that fits the criteria. So, it is with deep regret that I must cancel the 2009 Car Show scheduled for September 26, 2009 at the Windham, Me. WalMart".

"All of the Class Sponsors and the Flyer Sponsors will receive a full refund along with my sincere "Thank You" for supporting our efforts. I am pleased to announce that the American Legion "Legacy Scholarship Foundation" will receive a $1,000.00 donation as a result of our efforts".

"Thank You" to everyone that said they would help with the show, maybe another time..............

Regards,

Ken Matthews

Great Cruise

Just got back from the C.H.O.P. Cruise Night. Wow! A total of 66 cars showed up, and they ran out of room early. Lots of great, fun folks, some we have not seen since last year.

As usual, the pizza was superb. And the cruise provided a new item for the HotKarz FUNNIES. And I have posted cruise pix here...

Quick note: the HotKarz 2009 CAR BUFF OF THE YEAR has been chosen. The announcement and award presentation will be held at the C.H.O.P. cruise next Tuesday, weather permitting, as the recipient of the award usually attends that cruise location. So, if y'all want to know who it is, or if you want to participate in the festivities (there will be cake), then we'll see you next Tuesday.

Cumberland!

Well, each year we patiently await the first cruise-in of the season that is hosted at Cumberland House of Pizza. It is one of our favorite cruise locations - right up there with Blast From The Past and Two Trails Diner.

Some folks think a cruise is a cruise. But there are some that are inherently more pleasureable than others. Most are very nice. But Cumby's, for reasons I cannot rightly put my finger on, is at the top of the list. Maybe it's the pizza. Or the music. Or the enthusiasm of the folks who put it on. Or maybe the huge crowd that usually adorns the parking area.

I think it is because Cumby's has them all...

Hope to see y'all there tonite! Tomorrow, if the rain does not keep us at bay, it's off to the first cruise at Two Trails diner in Standish (Rte 25).
