Owning Your Words

One commenter to my last post simply said - anonymously, of course - that we should stay home because that would be more room for "the rest of us".

Originally, this post took the commenter to task for what is obviously a complete lack of ethics - discrimination is discrimination, and if a person supports it, that says all we need to know about the person.

But then another HotKarz reader posted a comment reminding me of the family values we like to pursue at HotKarz, so I have edited this post considerably - it does no one any good for us to lower ourselves to the depths that some people sink to. And I apologize for losing my cool over a comment by a person so lacking in normal human kindness and concern for others. And I thank that other reader for bringing me back from the anger that it brought out.

But to that anonymous commenter, at least have the courage of your convictions to sign your comments. If you are afraid to own them and take responsibility for them, don't post them. Yes, folks may post anonymously - but if you are going to post something that is wrong, hurtful or ethically barren, you have an obligation to take ownership of it. If your anonymity is because you are ashamed of what you are saying, either don't say it, or sign it.

When you started this Blog it was family friendly and good fun. Your running commentary on Shows was fair and very well taken ( by most ). Lately things are different and from the looks of this last post something is wrong.

I sent you something from your blog that was posted by you the very first day you started this. Hope it reminds you of something...

Welcome
I would like to welcome all car enthusiasts throught Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, for whom this blog, and http://www.hotkarz.com/ was created. Of course, everyone, everywhere, is welcome to read and enjoy this blog or visit our website, HotKarz.com.

It may take a little time for this blog to get up and running smoothly, as it is new, and only a few folks even know about it. This blog will hopefully become a "meeting place" for those it serves. Anyone, of course, can participate simply by choosing to comment (at the end of a post, click on COMMENT link). Comments will not appear immediately, as this blog is moderated to insure it is not abused, but comments will normally appear within a few hours.

Comments may not include any kind of SPAM, advertising, foul language, or unflattering diatribe that some might find objectionable or hateful. We must insist that this to be a fun, friendly, family-oriented meeting place.

So, with that said, please note that you may also visit us at http://www.hotkarz.com/. That is the website where car enthusiasts from throughout northern New England can include their stories, events, pictures, or even advertise their products/services. Although I just began creating the site today, there is already a fair amount of content you may find interesting. Please stop by, and feel free to make suggestions, or send in your pics, events etc.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Bill, Robin & Criss Vaughn
