Shaw's Ridge Part II

Received a comment from Ken that makes a good point - ask you, the folks, how well you fared at Shaw's today, since I was unable to get the results personally.

So, folks - how'd ya all make out? Would like to hear from you - either by adding a comment here, or emailing me at ptwoodycrew@aol.com

For those who inquired, we had to leave early because of a situation at home that arose. Unfortunately, we will not be able to make the Toys For Tots run tomorrow because of it. But I will not be wasting the time - I will be spending most of the day setting up our new property monitoring system that will hopefully tell us whenever an intruder comes onto the property - no, not the whole 15 acres, but definitely the front 3 acres that encompass the house, driveway and outbuildings.

We do hope the rest of you have a great time, however, and don't forget to give a big hand to Stan & Cheryl Page for doing so very much to make it a success each year. They are a true blessing.

SHAWS RIDGE HAS BECOME A 7 HOUR CRUISE NIGHT WITH DECENT FOOD AND GREAT ICE CREAM AND A NICE AREA AS WELL. HOWEVER,TO CALL IT A SHOW AND HAVE ONLY ONE AWARD IN EACH CLASS,JUDGES WHO SIMPLY STROLL ON BY MOST CARS IN EACH CLASS AS THEY ARE SIMPLY OVERWHELMED WITH CLASS SIZES,AND TO MAKE HUGE ERRORS IN MISSING SEVERAL OF THE 'BEST OF' CATEGORIES JUST DOESNT MAKE IT A WELL JUDGED SHOW.EITHER IMPROVE THE JUDGES OR HAVE MORE CLASSES OR BOTH OR SIMPLY GO BACK TO PARTICIPANT VOTING AS WE ALL KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO HAVE A GREAT JUDGED SHOW.AND WITH ALL OF THOSE GREAT CARS,DON'T SOME DESERVE AT LEAST A SECOND PLACE. COME ON!

We chose not to attend this show this year as a group/club because of these actions last year. A couple of our members placed last year. That aside it was clear to see that there were better vehicles in those classes that deserved awards over the vehicles that did win. Until I hear more positive things from this show in terms of judging and/or time frame I, myself, will not attend. More classes, more trophies, and more judges is a must for this show to be improved and actually considered a show and not just an art exhibit. If it was just what it was which is "Art of Transportation" and not trying to be a show it's well worth it for sure. Seeing vehicles that are well deserving of an award not even see a look by the judges is disappointing. I hope they can improve for it would be a great show.

Shaw's ridge was a great time. But, I was not happy seeing and hearing Certain things at the PT Woody. And cetain persons edging it on. I also had to leave early for family reasons. I called a friend at the show to see how things were going. They were just getting done with the door prizes at 3:00 pm.Frank did a good job, but may I make a couple of suggestions. For door prize drawings. Get a marker board and draw say 10 numbers and right them on the board say every half hour and people can come check the board periodically threw the day. So it is not so drawn out. This will help shorten it time wise. Yes! they need more trophies. Definatly. The same problem happened last year.I also saw the judges skipping cars. They will lose cars next year. Several people pointed it out to me also.
Other than that it was a good time.
